Frequently asked questions

How do I add an MCP server to Claude Code?

Run one command: claude mcp add, the server name and its address (or the command that starts it). Add --scope user to use it in every project. Then type /mcp inside Claude Code to sign in.

Where does Claude Code keep MCP servers?

Servers for all your projects are saved in ~/.claude.json. Servers for one project go in a .mcp.json file in that project, which you can share with your team.

How do I see which MCP servers are connected?

Type /mcp inside Claude Code. It lists every server, whether it is connected, and lets you sign in or reconnect.
