Playwright MCP
Let Claude drive a real browser to click, type, fill forms and read pages.
Officialby MicrosoftRuns on your computerChecked October 18, 2026
Microsoft's Playwright MCP gives Claude a real Chrome, Firefox or WebKit browser that it controls through structured accessibility snapshots rather than screenshots, so no vision model is needed. It runs on your own computer, keeps a persistent profile by default so logins survive between sessions, and suits testing, form filling and pages that only render with JavaScript.
Who it is for
- Developers testing web apps
- QA engineers writing end-to-end checks
- Anyone automating repetitive browser chores
Prompts to try
Once it is connected, ask in plain words. Claude decides when to use the server and asks before it changes anything important.
Open http://localhost:3000, sign up with a test email and tell me if any step shows an error.Go to the pricing page of example.com and list every plan with its monthly price.Fill in the contact form on this page with placeholder data and take a screenshot before submitting.How to connect it
In Claude Code
claude mcp add playwright npx @playwright/mcp@latest
In the Claude desktop app
Add this to claude_desktop_config.json, then restart the app:
{
"mcpServers": {
"playwright": {
"command": "npx",
"args": [
"@playwright/mcp@latest"
]
}
}
}Good to know
Add --headless or --isolated to the args for a hidden browser or a throwaway profile; the Playwright Extension lets it use your open Chrome or Edge tabs.
