Linear MCP

Find, create and update Linear issues, projects and comments from Claude.

Officialby LinearHosted, nothing to installChecked October 18, 2026

Linear's hosted MCP server lets Claude look up issues, file new ones, change their status and add comments in your workspace, using your own permissions. Linear keeps adding tools, such as initiatives, project milestones and customer requests, and it also offers a read-only endpoint.

Who it is for

  • Product and engineering teams that plan in Linear
  • Developers who want to file bugs without leaving the terminal
  • Managers writing project status updates

Prompts to try

Once it is connected, ask in plain words. Claude decides when to use the server and asks before it changes anything important.

Prompt 1
Show my open Linear issues for this cycle, sorted by priority.
Prompt 2
Create a Linear issue for the Web team about the login timeout bug, with the steps to reproduce from this chat.
Prompt 3
Summarize what changed in the Mobile project this week and draft a project update.

How to connect it

In Claude Code

  1. claude mcp add --transport http linear-server https://mcp.linear.app/mcp

In the Claude desktop app

How we checked it

Checked Linear's MCP docs, its changelog (an MCP tool was added on 2026-10-08), its Claude connectors listing and the registry entry app.linear/linear; the hosted endpoint answers with an OAuth challenge.
