OpenCode Skills

147 skills that work in OpenCode, checked by hand. We tested 34 of them on a real task, so you can see the result before you install.

A free, open source AI agent for the terminal that works with many AI models, including Claude, GPT and Gemini. It loads SKILL.md skills on demand.

How to use one
OpenCode lists your skills to the agent, which loads one when the task needs it. You can allow, block or require approval per skill.
Plans
OpenCode is free. You pay only for the AI model you connect.

How to install a skill in OpenCode

  1. Step 1

Copy the install prompt from the skill's page and paste it into OpenCode.

  2. Step 2

OpenCode runs the installer and puts the skill in ~/.config/opencode/skills/.

  3. Step 3

Ask for the job. The agent loads the skill when it fits.

The quickest way is to let OpenCode do it. Every skill page here has this prompt filled in with the right address; this is what it looks like:

Install prompt for OpenCode
Install the skill at [skill address] for OpenCode so it works in every project: run `npx skills add [skill address] -a opencode -g -y` in my terminal. If Node.js is missing, tell me how to install it first. When it's done, confirm the skill is installed and tell me how to use it.

Prefer to do it by hand? A skill is just a folder with a SKILL.md file. Put the folder in ~/.config/opencode/skills/ to use it everywhere, or in .opencode/skills/ or .agents/skills/ inside a project to share it with that project only.

Good to know

  • Skill names must be unique across all your skill folders.
  • OpenCode also reads .claude/skills/ and ~/.claude/skills/, so Claude Code skills work without reinstalling.

Skills follow one open standard (a folder with a SKILL.md file), so the same skill also works in Claude Code, Claude app, Codex and ChatGPT. Facts on this page are checked against SST's own documentation.

Skills teach OpenCode how to do a job. To let it reach your other tools (Notion, Gmail, Shopify and more), see the MCP servers that work in OpenCode.

Frequently asked questions

Does OpenCode support Claude skills?

Yes. OpenCode reads the same SKILL.md format and even looks in Claude's skill folders, so skills you installed for Claude Code work right away.

Can I control which skills OpenCode uses?

Yes. In opencode.json you can set each skill (or a pattern like internal-*) to allow, deny or ask.

Which AI model should I use with skills in OpenCode?

Any strong model works. Skills are plain instructions and files, so they are not tied to one model.

Which OpenCode skills should I try first?

Start with the ones marked Tested at the top of the list: we installed each of them and ran it on a real task, so you can see what it made before you install it. 147 skills in this directory work in OpenCode.
