Google Drive MCP Server

Search, read and create files in Google Drive, including Docs, Sheets, Slides and PDFs.

Officialby GoogleHosted, nothing to installChecked October 18, 2026

Google's hosted Drive server lets Claude search your Drive, read the text of Docs, Sheets, Slides, PDFs and Office files, and create or copy files, using only what your Google account can open. In Claude it is a directory connector you turn on with a Google sign-in, while connecting other clients means joining Google's Workspace Developer Preview Program and creating your own OAuth client.

Who it is for

  • Teams that keep their documents in Google Drive
  • Consultants and freelancers who work from shared client folders
  • Anyone who wants Claude to find and summarize files

Prompts to try

Once it is connected, ask in plain words. Claude decides when to use the server and asks before it changes anything important.

Prompt 1
Find the latest version of our pricing proposal in Drive and summarize the key numbers.
Prompt 2
Read the client feedback doc from last week and list every change request.
Prompt 3
Make a copy of the 2026 content calendar and name it 2027 content calendar.

How to connect it

In Claude Code

  1. claude mcp add --transport http --client-id YOUR_OAUTH_CLIENT_ID --client-secret --callback-port 8080 google-drive https://drivemcp.googleapis.com/mcp/v1

In the Claude desktop app

Customize > Connectors > Discover: search Google Drive, then select Connect to Claude

Hosted address: https://drivemcp.googleapis.com/mcp/v1

Good to know

Simplest Claude Code path: connect Google Drive in claude.ai and it appears under /mcp; the direct command needs your own Google Cloud OAuth client.

How we checked it

Checked Google's Drive MCP setup guide and tool reference (Developer Preview, updated 2026-10-12) and Claude's Drive connector page, which says Google builds and runs it; the endpoint lists its 8 tools and returns an OAuth challenge on tool calls.
