Asana MCP Server

Search, create and update Asana tasks, projects, portfolios and status updates.

Officialby AsanaHosted, nothing to installChecked October 18, 2026

Asana's hosted V2 server lets Claude find, read and change work in one Asana workspace per session, from single tasks up to portfolios and project status reports. In Claude it also shows preview cards so you can check a new task or project plan before it is created.

Who it is for

  • Teams that plan projects in Asana
  • Project managers who write weekly status updates
  • Team leads checking workloads

Prompts to try

Once it is connected, ask in plain words. Claude decides when to use the server and asks before it changes anything important.

Prompt 1
What tasks are assigned to me and due this week in Asana?
Prompt 2
Create a project for the October webinar with sections for Promotion, Content and Follow-up.
Prompt 3
Give me a status overview of the Website Redesign portfolio and list any blockers.

How to connect it

In Claude Code

  1. claude mcp add --transport http --client-id YOUR_CLIENT_ID --client-secret --callback-port 8080 asana https://mcp.asana.com/v2/mcp

In the Claude desktop app

Customize > Connectors > Discover: search Asana, then select Connect to Claude

Hosted address: https://mcp.asana.com/v2/mcp

Good to know

Claude Code needs an MCP app from the Asana developer console with the redirect URL http://localhost:8080/callback; the old /sse beta endpoint is deprecated.

How we checked it

Checked Asana's MCP docs, its tools reference (updated 2026-09-01) and Claude Code setup guide, plus the Claude directory listing; the V2 endpoint returns an OAuth challenge.
