PlanetScale MCP Server
Explore PlanetScale Postgres and Vitess databases, schemas, branches and query insights.
Officialby PlanetScaleHosted, nothing to installChecked October 18, 2026
PlanetScale's hosted MCP server lets Claude list your organizations, databases and branches, read schemas, review query Insights and schema recommendations, and run SQL against Postgres or Vitess databases. During sign-in you pick no access, read-only or full access per database, and risky writes such as an UPDATE without a WHERE clause are blocked.
Who it is for
- Developers running apps on PlanetScale
- Teams tracking down slow queries
- Database administrators reviewing schema changes
Prompts to try
Once it is connected, ask in plain words. Claude decides when to use the server and asks before it changes anything important.
Which queries on my production branch are the slowest this week, and why?Show me the schema recommendations for the orders database and explain each one.Count the users who signed up yesterday, using a read-only query. How to connect it
In Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http "planetscale" https://mcp.pscale.dev/mcp/planetscale
In the Claude desktop app
Customize > Connectors > Discover: search PlanetScale, then select Connect to Claude
Hosted address: https://mcp.pscale.dev/mcp/planetscale
Good to know
Run /mcp to sign in; for Insights without query tools use https://mcp.pscale.dev/mcp/planetscale-insights-only instead.

How we checked it
Checked PlanetScale's MCP docs, its listing in Claude's connectors directory, the registry entry (io.github.planetscale/mcp-server) and the partial open-source tools repo planetscale/mcp-server (last commit 2026-10); the hosted endpoint answers with an OAuth challenge.
