Gmail MCP
Google's official server for searching, reading, drafting and labeling Gmail.
Officialby GoogleHosted, nothing to installChecked October 18, 2026
Google's hosted Gmail MCP server, currently in Developer Preview, lets Claude search your threads, read messages and prepare drafts or replies using your own Gmail permissions. It also creates and applies labels and moves mail to trash or spam, and Claude's Gmail connector points to this same server.
Who it is for
- People who spend their day in Gmail
- Founders and assistants triaging a busy inbox
- Sales and support staff drafting replies
Prompts to try
Once it is connected, ask in plain words. Claude decides when to use the server and asks before it changes anything important.
Find every email from our accountant this month and summarize what she needs from me.Draft a polite reply to Dana's latest message declining the Thursday meeting.Label all unread newsletters from this week as Read Later. How to connect it
In Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http --client-id YOUR_CLIENT_ID --client-secret --callback-port 8080 gmail https://gmailmcp.googleapis.com/mcp/v1
In the Claude desktop app
Customize > Connectors > Discover: search Gmail, then select Connect to Claude
Hosted address: https://gmailmcp.googleapis.com/mcp/v1
Good to know
Easiest path: connect Gmail at claude.ai and sign in to Claude Code with that account; the command above needs your own Google Cloud OAuth client.
Unlock the setup steps
Free. Leave your email once to open the setup steps for all 150 servers, and get the best new connectors each month.
How we checked it
Checked Google's Gmail MCP configuration guide (Developer Preview, updated 2026-10-12) and reference page, the May 2026 Workspace announcement and the Gmail listing in Claude's connectors directory; the endpoint lists its tools publicly and tool calls return an OAuth challenge.
