DBHub

Lightweight gateway that lets Claude query Postgres, MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle and SQLite.

Community, verifiedby BytebaseRuns on your computerChecked October 18, 2026

DBHub is a small open-source MCP server from Bytebase that connects Claude to PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, SQL Server, Oracle or SQLite through a single connection string. It loads only two tools by default to save context, and adds guardrails such as read-only mode, row limits, query timeouts and SSH tunnels.

Who it is for

  • Developers who want Claude to query an existing database
  • Analysts who need read-only SQL access
  • Teams running several database engines

Prompts to try

Once it is connected, ask in plain words. Claude decides when to use the server and asks before it changes anything important.

Prompt 1
What tables do we have, and which ones reference the customers table?
Prompt 2
How many new signups did we get each week this quarter?
Prompt 3
Find orders over 500 dollars that have no matching payment record.

How to connect it

In Claude Code

  1. claude mcp add --transport stdio dbhub -- npx @bytebase/dbhub@latest --transport stdio --dsn "postgres://USER:PASSWORD@localhost:5432/DBNAME"

In the Claude desktop app

One-click .mcpb bundle from the DBHub GitHub releases (read-only): double-click it, then paste your connection string

Good to know

Use a read-only database user in the connection string; the .mcpb bundle and DBHub's Claude Code plugin both run in read-only mode.

How we checked it

Checked the bytebase/dbhub repo (MIT, release v1.5.0 in 2026-10), the @bytebase/dbhub npm package, the install docs on dbhub.ai and the Claude Code MCP docs, which use DBHub as their PostgreSQL example.
