Google Cloud BigQuery MCP

Explore BigQuery datasets and run SQL on your warehouse through Google's hosted server.

Officialby Google CloudHosted, nothing to installChecked October 18, 2026

Google hosts this MCP server for BigQuery, so Claude can list datasets and tables, read schemas and run SQL against your warehouse with your own Google Cloud permissions. It is switched on together with the BigQuery API, and a read-only query tool plus IAM deny policies help keep it from changing data.

Who it is for

  • Data analysts
  • Marketing teams with GA4 or ads exports in BigQuery
  • Data engineers checking tables and schemas

Prompts to try

Once it is connected, ask in plain words. Claude decides when to use the server and asks before it changes anything important.

Prompt 1
List the tables in our analytics dataset and describe what each one seems to hold.
Prompt 2
Using the GA4 export tables, count purchases by traffic source for last week.
Prompt 3
Find the 20 customers with the highest total order value this year.

How to connect it

In Claude Code

  1. claude mcp add --transport http --client-id YOUR_CLIENT_ID --client-secret --callback-port 8080 bigquery https://bigquery.googleapis.com/mcp

In the Claude desktop app

Customize > Connectors > Discover: search Google Cloud BigQuery, then select Connect to Claude

Hosted address: https://bigquery.googleapis.com/mcp

Good to know

Google requires your own OAuth client for custom setups (redirect URI http://localhost:8080/callback for Claude Code); the Claude directory connector is the simpler route.

How we checked it

Checked Google Cloud's BigQuery MCP docs (updated 2026-10-13), its client setup guide and the Claude directory listing (made by Google, added January 2026); the endpoint answers an MCP initialize request, and the docs require Google OAuth plus IAM roles for tool calls.
