WordPress.com MCP

Draft posts, build pages and moderate comments on your WordPress.com sites.

Officialby Automattic (WordPress.com)Hosted, nothing to installChecked October 18, 2026

WordPress.com runs a hosted MCP server that reaches every site on your account through one OAuth connection, with a separate switch for each read and write ability. Since March 2026 it can draft and publish posts, build pages, moderate comments, organize categories and tags, and update media details, not just read site data.

Who it is for

  • Bloggers and writers
  • Small business site owners
  • Content teams on WordPress.com

Prompts to try

Once it is connected, ask in plain words. Claude decides when to use the server and asks before it changes anything important.

Prompt 1
Draft a blog post on my WordPress.com site about our new opening hours and save it as a draft.
Prompt 2
Show me the comments waiting for approval and reply politely to the ones that ask a question.
Prompt 3
Add descriptive alt text to the images in my last three posts.

How to connect it

In Claude Code

  1. claude mcp add --transport http wpcom-mcp https://public-api.wordpress.com/wpcom/v2/mcp/v1

In the Claude desktop app

Customize > Connectors > Discover: search WordPress.com, then select Connect to Claude

Hosted address: https://public-api.wordpress.com/wpcom/v2/mcp/v1

Good to know

First turn on MCP and choose which abilities to allow at wordpress.com/me/mcp, then run /mcp to sign in.

How we checked it

Checked the WordPress.com developer docs (last updated 2026-10-07, with the Claude Code command), the March 2026 write-access announcement and the Claude directory listing; the hosted endpoint answers with an OAuth challenge.
