Best n8n Courses (2026): Free Academy, Udemy, Certification
Every course below was checked on its own page on October 21, 2026, including when it was last updated, because n8n ships a new version almost every week.
By Yotam DahanUpdated 13 min readChoosing an AI course
The best n8n courses in 2026 start with n8n's own: n8n Academy has four free courses, from the 3 to 5 hour Quickstart to the three-course Foundations program, and each ends with a certificate of completion and a verifiable badge. There is no n8n certification yet, because the timed exam n8n announced is still listed as coming soon. Pay for a course only when you want lessons in your own language, a teacher who answers questions or projects close to your business, and check first that it was updated after n8n 2.0 shipped on December 8, 2025.

n8n Academy: the free n8n course to start with
n8n Academy is n8n's own school at learn.n8n.io. It soft-launched on June 16, 2026 with four courses (n8n's launch announcement), and n8n's education page says every course is free for everyone.
Every course is graded the same way: quizzes count for 10%, workflow exercises for 55% and a final exam for 35%. Badges are issued through Accredible, a service that hosts digital credentials, so anyone you send the link to can check that yours is real.

From n8n's education page and the four course pages (Quickstart, Essentials, Integrations, In Practice), checked October 21, 2026. The hours add up their time estimates.
Quickstart or Foundations: the n8n course for beginners to pick
Quickstart (QS101) is the quickest taste of the whole tool. In three sections you build your first workflows, a small data pipeline with error handling, and a customer service chatbot with the AI Agent node. Only that last part needs an API key (a personal key that lets n8n use an AI model and bills your account) from a model provider such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, DeepSeek or Groq.
The n8n Foundations program goes deeper: Essentials (N8N101), Integrations (N8N102) and In Practice (N8N103), meant to be taken in that order. Each course stands on its own, and finishing all three earns a program certificate and badge on top. n8n calls Integrations the most technically dense of the three, so give it the most time.
| Course | Typical time | Needs a public n8n instance | Needs a model API key | What you build |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| QS101 Quickstart | 3 to 5 hours | No | AI section only | First workflows, a data pipeline with error handling, a customer service chatbot |
| N8N101 Essentials | 2 to 4 hours | Yes | No | Triggers and schedules, then mapping, transforming and merging data |
| N8N102 Integrations | 4 to 6 hours | Yes | No | Flow control, sub-workflows, error handling, the HTTP Request node with API keys and OAuth2, webhooks, Data Tables |
| N8N103 In Practice | 3 to 4 hours | Yes | AI section only | The AI Agent node with tools and memory, debugging, Try/Catch error handling, workflows ready for real use |

What you need before your first lesson
Quickstart only asks for an n8n instance, meaning your own running copy of n8n, either on n8n Cloud or self-hosted on a computer or server you manage. The three Foundations courses need one the internet can reach, which is why the Cloud trial is the easy route.
An n8n instance
The n8n Cloud trial, or a self-hosted n8n with a public address. A copy that runs only on your laptop is fine for Quickstart, not for Foundations.
A model API key
Only for the AI parts of Quickstart and In Practice. In Practice's examples use Groq, and any provider with a free tier works. Set a monthly spending limit first.
About an hour a day
All four courses take 12 to 19 hours, which fits inside the 14-day trial at 1 to 1.5 hours a day.
English
The Academy is taught in English, and so is the n8n editor by default.
If you have never opened n8n, our n8n tutorial for beginners builds a form-to-sheet-to-email workflow in one sitting, so the first lessons feel familiar. What the trial includes, and what Cloud costs after it, is in our n8n pricing guide.
n8n certification: what you can earn in October 2026
n8n talks about three different credentials, and only two of them exist today:
- A certificate of completion and a badge per course. Pass any Academy course with 70% and you get both. An n8n Academy certificate of completion records that you finished and passed that one course.
- A program certificate and badge for finishing all three Foundations courses.
- The n8n certification itself. It will be a separate timed exam you sit on its own, and passing it earns a badge that stays valid for two years. In June, n8n said exams would come in Q3; on October 21, 2026, its education page still lists certification as coming soon.
- June 2024n8n's official beginner and advanced video courses on YouTube get their last update
- December 8, 2025n8n 2.0 replaces the Active toggle with Publish and drops the Start node
- June 16, 2026n8n Academy launches with four free courses and verifiable badges, and says exams will follow in Q3
- October 21, 2026The certification exam is still listed as coming soon
Is n8n certification worth it?
Not yet, because there is no exam to sit. Once it launches, its two-year expiry means it will say more about your current skills than a course badge can. Until then, here is what each credential is good for:
- Course badges today: a small plus on LinkedIn or in a freelance pitch, because they show you learned from the source and anyone can verify them.
- The exam, once it exists: worth taking if you sell n8n work, since a timed test is harder to fake than a finished course.
- What actually persuades a client: a workflow you can demo on a task they recognize. No certificate replaces that.
Best n8n courses compared
The best n8n course for most people is still the free Academy; a paid one earns its price when you want more projects, a specific angle such as client work, or you already pay for the platform. Every course was checked on its own page on October 21, 2026. Udemy prices change with your country and the current sale, so they are not listed.

Free n8n course with certificate, or free videos without one
Of the courses in the table, n8n Academy is the only free one that ends with a certificate. The free YouTube courses are long and popular, but most predate n8n 2.0: n8n's own beginner playlist was last updated in June 2024, Nick Saraev's course went up in April 2025, and freeCodeCamp's two came out on November 12 and December 11, 2025, the second just three days after 2.0 shipped. Use them as extra material next to the Academy, not as your main course.
Best n8n course on Udemy
Pick by fit, rating count and the month of the last update, not by the star average alone. Every paid Udemy course ends with a Udemy certificate of completion. Three stand out in English:
Arnold Oberleiter
The most students of any n8n course we checked (82,030), updated July 2026. Covers LLM apps and AI agents built with n8n and APIs.
Damian Danelczyk
58.5 hours with a clear agency angle: 90+ templates to reuse in client work, a 30-day roadmap for an AI automation agency, and AI voice agents. Long if you only automate your own business.
David Soden
Has a 2 hour 43 minute section on installing and running n8n yourself, updated February 2026. The instructor suggests some technical background.
Short n8n courses on DataCamp and LinkedIn Learning
DataCamp's course was made together with n8n: 10 videos and 32 exercises in about three hours. LinkedIn Learning's n8n courses are all under two hours in the list we checked. Both make sense as refreshers if you already pay for the subscription; neither replaces the Academy's graded exercises.
ai school's automation course, Autopilot, uses n8n where it fits best, plus Make and Claude Code, for leads, email and social posting. It is in early access, open for pre-order, so it is not ranked here.
How to check an n8n course before you pay
n8n 2.0, released on December 8, 2025, changed screens that every course shows: the Active toggle that switched a workflow on became Publish and Unpublish buttons, and the old Start node is no longer supported (n8n's 2.0 breaking changes). So the fastest test is a free preview lesson: a Publish button in the top right corner of the editor means the course was recorded on n8n 2.x; an Active toggle there means it was recorded on n8n 1.x, which almost always means before December 2025.
A recent update date matters even after that, because n8n keeps moving: it shipped a new minor version every week for five weeks in a row, from 2.41 on September 22 to 2.45 on October 20, 2026 (release notes). Run through this list before you pay for any n8n course:
0 of 7 done
For warning signs that apply to any paid course, our guide on whether AI courses are worth it goes further. To test a specific curriculum, paste its lesson list into Claude or ChatGPT:
I'm choosing an n8n course. Here is its curriculum: [PASTE THE LESSON LIST]. It was last updated in [MONTH YEAR].
Facts: n8n 2.0 shipped on December 8, 2025. It replaced the Active toggle with Publish and Unpublish buttons and no longer supports the Start node. n8n now releases a new minor version about every week.
List the lessons most likely to show outdated screens, the lessons that still matter, and 3 questions I should ask the seller before I pay. My goal is [WHAT I WANT TO AUTOMATE].Learning n8n in another language
The n8n editor is in English by default and the Academy is taught in English, so a course in your own language explains the ideas while you still click English menus. This guide also exists in Portuguese, Spanish and French, each with its own table of local courses.
What learning n8n costs: courses, practice and AI usage
You pay for up to three things: the course, an n8n instance to practice on, and the AI model behind the agent lessons. Courses come in four price models:
Free and official
n8n Academy. You only pay for practice: the Cloud trial is free for 14 days, then Starter is €20 a month billed annually.
One-time purchase
Udemy and most independent course sites. On Udemy, the price depends on your country and the current sale.
Subscription
DataCamp and LinkedIn Learning. Good value only if you also use the rest of the catalog.
Live cohort
A teacher and a group on a schedule. Worth it only if you have stalled working alone.
The AI model is the cost people forget. The AI sections of Quickstart and In Practice need an API key, and beyond any free tier, model providers bill pay-as-you-go, so set a monthly spending limit in the provider's dashboard before your first agent run. The trial and Starter figures above come from n8n's pricing page and its trial docs, checked October 21, 2026. Our n8n pricing guide explains how n8n counts executions, so you can tell what your own workflows will cost after the trial.
Quick check0 of 3 correct
A paid n8n course shows an "Active" toggle in the top corner of the editor. What does that tell you?
Not quite.
n8n 2.0 replaced the Active toggle with Publish and Unpublish buttons, so screens with the toggle come from n8n 1.x, which almost always means before December 2025.
Which official n8n credential can you earn today?
Not quite.
The certification exam is still listed as coming soon. Each Academy course ends with a completion certificate and a verifiable badge.
Which courses earn the n8n Foundations program certificate?
Not quite.
n8n gives the program certificate and badge for finishing all three Foundations courses.
What to do next

Frequently asked questions
How long does it take to learn n8n?
n8n's own Essentials course gets most learners through their first workflows in 2 to 4 hours, and all four n8n Academy courses take 12 to 19 hours in total. Feeling at ease takes longer: plan on a few weeks of building workflows for your own tasks after the courses.
Which n8n course is best for building AI agents?
n8n Academy's In Practice course (N8N103) covers the AI Agent node with tools and memory, and n8n recommends taking Essentials and Integrations before it. After that, build one agent for a real task, for example with our n8n AI agent tutorial.
Is a Udemy n8n certificate recognized?
It is a certificate of completion from Udemy, not a credential from n8n or an accredited body. It shows you finished the course; a workflow you can demo shows far more.
Is the old n8n Level 1 course still available?
No. n8n retired its Level 1 and Level 2 text courses when n8n Academy launched in June 2026, and the old course pages on docs.n8n.io now redirect to the Academy. Its Quickstart course is based on that original material, with a new AI section.
Is learning n8n worth it in 2026?
Yes, if you repeat the same steps between apps every week, because n8n can run them for you and its official training is free. If you only need one simple link between two apps, a simpler tool with a free plan may be quicker to learn.
