n8n MCP Server

Search, run, test and build workflows on your own n8n instance from Claude.

Officialby n8nHosted, nothing to installChecked October 18, 2026

n8n's built-in MCP server runs on your own n8n Cloud or self-hosted instance and lets Claude find, run and test the workflows you choose to expose. On recent versions it can also build and edit workflows, inspect executions and work with data tables, using OAuth or a personal access token.

Who it is for

  • Teams that already run automations on n8n
  • Automation consultants managing client instances
  • Developers who self-host their workflow stack

Prompts to try

Once it is connected, ask in plain words. Claude decides when to use the server and asks before it changes anything important.

Prompt 1
Run my Lead Enrichment workflow for jane@example.com and show me the result.
Prompt 2
Why did the Daily Invoice Sync workflow fail last night? Check the latest execution.
Prompt 3
Build a workflow that posts new Stripe payments to our #revenue Slack channel.

How to connect it

In Claude Code

  1. claude mcp add --transport http n8n https://YOUR_N8N_DOMAIN/mcp-server/http

In the Claude desktop app

Customize > Connectors > + Add > Add custom connector, URL: the Server URL from n8n (it ends in /mcp-server/http)

Hosted address: https://YOUR_N8N_DOMAIN/mcp-server/http

Good to know

Turn on Settings > Instance-level MCP first, then enable MCP access on each workflow Claude should see.

How we checked it

Checked n8n's MCP docs (setup, client examples and tools reference), the MCP module in the n8n-io/n8n monorepo (last commit 2026-10-15) and the n8n listing in Claude's connectors directory.
